Makeup brushes I use for eye makeup

Since I’ve posted few looks these days, I received few e-mails in which you ask me to write a post about makeup brushes I use, but this time for my eye makeup so, here it is!

At this moment, I use 6 eyeshadow brushes and 1 angled brush for applying gel liner. Unfortunately, a can’t afford to spend minimum $20 per brush (and I’m not even sure  would even if I could because I’m a bit tight to spend that money on just one single makeup brush) so I chose something cheaper – Coastal Scents and ecotools brushes and those which I have for now are really enough for my needs.

I’m there are plenty better brushes than these, but if you’re not willing to spend too much money, I think this is a good choice and that these brushes would satisfy your needs. :)

Brushes:

  1. CS Italian Badger Pencil Brush ($3.29) – link – it’s perfect for applying eyeshadow in the crease area;
  2. CS Black Shadow brush ($1.95) – link – I use it to apply eyeshadows a bit heavier, it picks any eyeshadow excellent and though it it soft it’s at the same time firm as well;
  3. CS Italian Badger Round Crease Brush ($2.89) – link – I have 2 of these and I use them to apply any eyeshadow all over my eye lid;
  4. CS Italian Badger Blender Brush ($2.95) – link – I use it to blend everything;
  5. ecotools Concealer Brush (approx. $5) – though it isn’t for eyeshadow application, I use it for that anyway and I like it;
  6. CS Chisel Detail Mini brush ($1.99) – link – this brush is really teeny tiny brush :D and I use it to apply my eyeshadow in the inner corners and on my bottom eyelash line;

Read more about their quality and check out few other photos!

Beauty review: ecotools blush brush

ecotools kist za rumeniloecotools kist za rumenilo

I’ve been using ecotools blush brush for quite some time and I think it’s the right time for a review. I already wrote about this brush in my post about the brushes I use  – link, but this will be a bit more detailed review.

As far as I know, in Croatia, ecotools brushes are available only in Kozmo drugstores. Beside this brush, there are other ecotools brushes available like eyeliner brush, eyeshadow brush, concealer brush, powder brush, foundation brush but I know there aren’t available some ecotools set like that eyeshadow set or bamboo set. But, thanks to online shopping, everything is available pretty much. :D

So, what can I say about this brush beside the fact that I’m indeed satisfied and that in 90%  of times when applying blush I use this brush. It’s so soft (but not to soft), it applies every single blush perfectly, blends it out even better. I couldn’t wish more than that, right? Also, the bristles are synthetic and as I already mentioned – soft (I haven’t tried brushes with natural hair so I don’t know how is this brush comparing to one of those). I was it quite often and for now, one single hair hasn’t fallen out!

The regular price is $14 which isn’t that cheap, but it is worth every penny. I recommend this brush so, if you’re ISO a blush brush, consider trying this one. :)

Beauty review: Coastal Scents Synthetic Wide Buffer Brush

Though I already made few post about the brushes I use and about some of Coastal Scents brushes, I often get e-mails where my readers ask me for more information about them so I decided to write reviews on each of the brushes I’m using with more detailed information. For my 1st review, I decided to write about my  Synthetic Wide Buffer Brush which is among my TOP 3 brushes when it comes to quality and how much I use it.

Synthetic Wide Buffer Brush is a brush which I’m using for applying my loose and pressed powder. It is definitely THE brush when it comes to that purpose (at least among the ones I’ve tried).  The thing about this brush is that it is smaller, flat and really dense. 100% synthetic. It is unbelievably soft and gentle when used! It’s a bit bigger than the kabuki brush (which I completely stopped using when I got this one) but easier to handle and to use.  I simply pat all over my face when applying loose or pressed powder which is less irritating for my skin than making many rounded moves. In the end, I simply blend out if there is any excess powder left.  It actually much nicer applying powder with this brush, than with kabuki brush – it looks nicer.

I’ve been using it for about 6 months now and I’ve washed it so many times and this brush doesn’t shred at all (I think I’ve lost only 2 or 3 hairs by now). Brush diameter is a bit larger after 6 months, but nothing notably.

You can get it at the Coastal Scents web site – here and its price is $14.95. With shipping costs it’s around $20.00 which maybe seems much, but trust me, for this brush it isn’t too much.   You can see more photos in the rest of my post with exact measurements of the brush.

Online shopping: makeup brushes

I often get asked where do I buy my makeup brushes/beauty products/etc. so I decided to dedicate a post to online shopping, and my 1st post about it is about buying makeup brushes online. For start, you musz have PayPal account. Most online pages do accept credit cards, but PayPal is safer  when it comes to online shopping just because in that case you give your credit card number to PayPal and then you simply use PayPal account for shopping.

As I already mentioned, this post is about buying makeup brushes online. To know which brushes I use, please read this post – link – because I don’t buy all my makeup brushes online. Some brushes – ecotools makeup brushes - I buy in local drugstores. They are available in sets and separately.

The rest of my brushes were purchased through Coastal Scents (CS). I prefer CS for few reasons: they have a huge choice of excellent but cheap makeup brushes which makes them affordable to everyone; shipping is barely noticeable;  they ship the very next day; customer service is excellent. I’ve tried quite a number of their brushes and I’ll recommend you few of them which are worth buying.

Makeup brushes I use

Kistovi01ecotools powder blush, ecotools blush brush, fake 187, coastal scents large foundation brush, ecotools foundation brush, ecotools concealer brush

Note: this post was previously published here

Today I took pictures of all I’m using for applying makeup. The only thing I forgot to take picture of were sponge applicators, but you know how those look like. I use them for applying eyeshadow, got used to them.

Anyway, here’s a short description and review of each brush. All brushes are described from left to right.

Kistovi02ecotools powder brush, ecotools blush brush, fake 187

ecotools powder brush
It’s a huge fluffy brush with soft synthetic hair. I haven’t tried such a soft brush before. It’s perfect for applying loose powder. Perhaps you can use it as a blush brush, but I think it’s a bit too large for that and too soft.

ecotools blush brush (must have!)
This one is also made of synthetic hair, but, as I mentioned above – htey’re SO soft. It’s perfect for applying blush. I use it for soft or solid blushes. It’s really great for every blush I own.

fake 187 (must have!)
This is one of the most popular brushes or at least I got that impression. The great thing about this brush is that you can use it for applying everything you want – loose powder, liquid foundation or blush. I haven’t tried applying loose powder with it, but I think it would be good for that too.
Applying liquid foundation with this brush is taking a whole new dimension  – you get to knoe the true meaning of the words photoshop effect. Your face does look as it got off a magazine cover.   I love applying highly pigmented with this brush because you can control how strong the blush will look on your face.
